Prescription FLOVENT is for patients with asthma 4 years of age and older. FLOVENT is not for, and should not be used to treat, sudden symptoms of asthma. FLOVENT won't replace a rescue inhaler.
ASTHMA, A CHRONIC DISEASE
Asthma is a chronic disease that affects the airways of the lungs. One main component of asthma is airway inflammation (swelling of the airways). Airway inflammation can lead to asthma symptoms. And asthma symptoms can make it harder to do the things you or your child may want to do.
USING TOO MUCH ALBUTEROL?
Using too much albuterol (rescue inhaler) may be a sign that your asthma is not well controlled. If you use your rescue inhaler more than twice a week, there may be more you can do to help prevent your asthma symptoms. Talk to your healthcare provider to see if FLOVENT is right for you.
Taken daily as directed, FLOVENT can help prevent symptoms before they start. FLOVENT helps reduce airway inflammation, an underlying cause of asthma symptoms. Your results may vary. FLOVENT does not treat sudden symptoms of an asthma attack, such as wheezing, cough, shortness of breath, and chest pain or tightness. Always have a fast-acting bronchodilator medicine (rescue inhaler) with you to treat sudden symptoms.
FLOVENT is available in different strengths so that your healthcare provider can choose one that is right for you. Only certain strengths are approved for use in children ages 4 to 11 (FLOVENT DISKUS 50 mcg or 100 mcg and FLOVENT HFA 44 mcg).
